The Craft of Fine Dining

SC Guide

After a two-hour tour through the always fascinating Annenberg Space of Photography in Century City, my friend and I mulled over where to have dinner.  Departing from the huge office complex housing the Annenberg, we glanced around and both fixed our eyes on Craft, a short walk away and a restaurant with a reputation for fine dining.  Let’s give it a try we both declared and off we went.  Although we did not have reservations and although we were both surprised to discover that it was Restaurant Week, we were fortunate in securing one of the few remaining tables.  A very attractive, spacious dining spot indeed, surrounded by a welcoming outdoor dining patio, a lovely spot for small groups to gather.  Before we even ordered, I was very impressed with the wait staff and commented to my friend that I could only remember one other restaurant in Paris which offered this level of service — the five-star La Serre.  Since this was Restaurant Week, we took advantage of the special menu. Featuring American cuisine,  the first course brought to our table consisted of three mouth-watering appetizers served family style which we shared, followed by our entree…we both chose the salmon, cooked to perfection and beautifully plated.  Our meal concluded with a fresh fruit tart with berries oozing out and a decadent mocha truffle tart. Perfection.  The tables are well spaced and the noise level is moderate.  This is a fine place to close a deal, celebrate an occasion or just enjoy a very delicious meal in sophisticated surroundings with outstanding service.
